- Must have completed Matric
- Must be studying towards a Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc) or Bachelor of Engineering Degree (BEng) in one of the listed fields
- Must be enrolled at a recognised and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
- Must have completed the first year of study
- Must have achieved a minimum overall average of 65%
- Must not have failed any subjects
