Funding Amount: Full cover for tuition fees, textbooks, study materials, accommodation, meals, a monthly living allowance, and transport (if required).

About the Bursary Provider

The CRET Bursary is run by the Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation, a group that helps young South Africans succeed. 

They focus on students who are smart but don’t have enough money to go to college or university.

CRET looks for students who might not get other scholarships. 

They care about the whole person, their potential, and how they can help them grow through support and guidance. 

The program wants to help create future leaders for South Africa.

Cyril Ramaphosa Bursary Eligibility Requirements

You must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered:

  1. Be a South African citizen with a valid South African ID number
  2. Be between 16 and 27 years old
  3. Be currently in Matric or have completed Matric
  4. Be studying or intend to study towards an undergraduate qualification in one of the listed fields
  5. Be studying or have applied/registered to study at a recognized and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa (University, University of Technology, TVET College, or another recognized learning institution)
  6. Be in financial need, with a total household income not exceeding R650,000 per annum

How to Apply for the Cyril Ramaphosa Bursary

All students must submit their applications online via the official CRET bursary application portal.

Shortlisted candidates will need to provide the following supporting documents:

  1. Certified copy of South African ID document
  2. Certified copy of the most recent academic record
  3. Proof of tertiary acceptance for 2025 (on institution’s letterhead)
  4. Motivational letter explaining why you should be awarded the bursary
  5. Proof of parents’ or guardians’ household income (latest pay slips if employed, affidavit if unemployed, proof of pension or grant if applicable)
  6. Proof of home address
  7. Proof of completing a psychometric test (applicants can download and complete a free psychometric evaluation test and submit their results)
