About the Bursary Provider
The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation is dedicated to promoting entrepreneurship by supporting high-potential students through financial aid, mentorship, and entrepreneurial development.
The foundation seeks to develop responsible entrepreneurs who create value within their communities and beyond.
Allan Gray Fellowship Programme Eligibility Requirements
- A minimum of 60% in Pure Mathematics OR a minimum of 80% in Mathematical Literacy for final Grade 11 results
- A minimum average of 70% for final Grade 11 results (excluding Life Orientation)
- Applicant must be under the age of 21 in the year of application
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must intend to study towards an eligible degree at WITS, UJ, UCT, NMU, RU, UWC, SU, UP, UFS, UKZN, or TSiBA
- Certified copy of final Grade 11 report (most recent)
- Certified copy of your ID

Successful applicants will be invited for an interview in July 2025. Selected candidates will be invited to a selection camp in September 2025.
Ensure you give yourself enough time to complete the application form (at least 2 days is recommended).
What the Allan Gray Fellowship Covers
Academic & Financial Support
- Applicants with a combined annual household income of R1 million and below will receive full funding, covering university accommodation, meals, textbooks, tutoring allowance, and a monthly stipend.
- Applicants with a combined annual household income above R1 million will receive needs-based funding.
- Funding details will be communicated to successful candidates after the camp stage.
Entrepreneurial Support
- Mentorship from an individually assigned foundation staff member and a business mentor.
- Access to the Foundation’s online entrepreneurial curriculum.
- Participation in an annual entrepreneurship conference, seminars, and workshops.
- Access to a community of like-minded individuals.
- Business incubation opportunities.
- Access to business/venture funding via E Squared (available to students on the IVC program and graduates with viable business ideas).
