About the Bursary Provider

SAFCOL operates in the forestry industry within South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, and Limpopo provinces, as well as Mozambique’s Manica and Sofala provinces.

As the third-largest state-owned company in South Africa, SAFCOL is responsible for managing forests and assets within its group. 

The company conducts forestry business domestically and internationally, including timber harvesting, timber processing, and other related activities.

SAFCOL Bursary Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the SAFCOL Bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Must be a South African citizen
  2. Must be currently in Matric or have completed Matric
  3. Must be studying or intending to study full-time in one of the eligible fields
  4. Must be studying or intending to study at a recognized and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
  5. Must meet the entry requirements of the selected institution

Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged students, female students, students with disabilities, and youth residing in communities alongside SAFCOL plantations and communities with signed Social Compacts with SAFCOL.

How to Apply for the SAFCOL Bursary

Follow these steps to apply for the SAFCOL Bursary:

  1. Download and complete the SAFCOL Bursary Application Form.
  2. Submit the following compulsory supporting documents along with the completed application form:
    • Certified copy of your ID document
    • Certified copy of your Matric certificate or recent Matric results
    • Certified copy of your most recent academic record/transcripts (if currently studying) on institution letterhead
    • Proof of registration or acceptance at a tertiary institution on institution letterhead
