About the Bursary Provider
The Sasol Foundation offers bursaries to students pursuing undergraduate degrees or diplomas in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
It also supports non-STEM fields for children of Sasol employees, Khanyisa/Inzalo shareholders, and applicants from Sasol fence-line communities.
The Sasol Mainstream Bursary is also a performance-based program with a work-back/pay-back obligation.
It is aimed at supporting talented South African students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Engineering, Science, and Technology.
The Sasol Foundation also provides bursaries for STEM and non-STEM students under specific conditions.
Sasol Mainstream Undergraduate Bursaries:
- 100% tuition, registration, and exam fees.
- Accommodation allowance equivalent to university residence rates.
- Meal allowance.
- Book and pocket money of approximately R12,000 per year.
Sasol Mainstream Postgraduate Bursaries:
- Monthly stipend covering tuition, research, accommodation, and other expenses.
- Technical mentorship from Sasol professionals.
- Opportunity to join Sasol Graduate Development Programme.
Sasol Foundation Bursaries:
- 100% tuition, registration, and exam fees.
- Accommodation and meal allowances.
- Book and pocket money.
Eligibility Criteria for the Sasol Bursary
To qualify for the Sasol Bursary, applicants must:
- Be South African citizens.
- Be registered or qualify for registration at a recognized South African University or University of Technology.
- Apply for a full-time undergraduate/postgraduate degree (diplomas are not considered).
- Meet the minimum academic requirements for their chosen field of study.
Application Requirements
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Accepted or provisionally accepted at a South African University/University of Technology.
- Household income below R600,000 per annum.
- Minimum of 50% in all subjects.

For Grade 12 Applicants:
B.Eng. and B.Sc.
- Mathematics: Level 6 (70-79%)
- Physical Science: Level 6 (70-79%)
- English:
- First Additional Language: Level 5 (60-69%)
- Home Language: Level 5 (60-69%)
- Second Additional Language: Level 4 (50-59%)
B.Eng. Tech Engineering (Mine Surveying)
- Mathematics: Level 5 (60-69%)
- Physical Science: Level 5 (60-69%)

- Home Language: Level 5 (60-69%)
- Second Additional Language: Level 4 (50-59%)
For Current University Students:
- First-year students apply with Grade 12 results.
- Second-year students apply with first-year results.
- Third-year students apply with second-year results.
- Honors students apply with third-year results.
- Postgraduate students (Master’s/PhD) must have 65% or above in their previous academic year.

New Users:

- Click on Log In, then Register.
- Complete the required details and verify your email.
- Log in and access the Sasol Foundation Bursary application.
- Provide all necessary information and submit.
Returning Users:
- Log in using your registered email and password.
- Complete the application form and submit the required documents.
Applications must be for full-time studies at an accredited South African University. UNISA applications are not considered.
No bursaries are awarded for extended degree courses. Selection is based on financial need and academic performance.
Psychometric assessments and interviews may be required.
