About the Bursary Provider
The Ndwedwe Local Municipality is located in the iLembe District of KwaZulu-Natal and is the largest of four municipalities in the region.
Despite being close to urban and economic developments, the municipality remains underdeveloped, with a large demographic of historically disadvantaged communities.
This bursary program was created in honor of Solomon Mahlangu, a South African freedom fighter and anti-apartheid activist.
It aims to assist historically disadvantaged students in pursuing careers in municipal-related fields.
Eligibility Requirements for this bursary
To qualify for this bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Reside within the Ndwedwe Local Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal province.
- Be from a historically disadvantaged background.
- Be currently in Matric (2023) or have completed Matric.
- Be studying or intend to study one of the eligible fields in 2024.
- Be between 18 and 35 years old.
- Be registered or intend to register at an accredited South African institution (University, University of Technology, or TVET College).
- Not be receiving any other bursary funding or NSFAS.
- Preference will be given to students with strong academic performance or exceptional potential.
