BBD was formed in 1984 by three developers: Tom Budge, Sandra Barone, and Ralf Dominick.

They help companies connect their computer systems, design user-friendly apps, build new software, and give IT advice. 

They’ve worked with many big companies, like banks and phone companies, for over 30 years.

BBD has its main office in Johannesburg and other offices in places like Cape Town, India, and Bulgaria. 

They have a team of 700 experts, including designers and engineers. 

They also offer bursaries to students who want to work in software, helping them get ready for their careers.

Eligibility Requirements for the BBD Bursary

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying:

  1. Must be a South African citizen
  2. Must be currently in Matric OR have completed Matric
  3. Must be studying or accepted to study towards a Bachelors, Honours, Masters, or Doctorate degree in one of the eligible fields
  4. Must be studying or accepted to study at a recognised and accredited South African university
  5. Must have achieved a minimum overall average of 70% in Matric (if currently in Matric)
  6. Must have achieved a minimum overall average of 65% for tertiary studies (if currently studying)
  7. Must have a passion for technology and software development

You should also submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form:

  • Certified copy of your ID document
  • Certified copy of Matric latest results or Matric certificate
  • Most recent academic transcripts (if currently studying) on tertiary letterhead
  • University acceptance letter on tertiary letterhead
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Link to personal coding projects on GitHub or an equivalent platform (if applicable)

The submission of these documents is compulsory, and if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified.
