About the Bursary Provider

The KwaDukuza Local Municipality is located in the iLembe District of KwaZulu-Natal. 

Covering areas from the Zinkwazi River to the Tongaat River, it is one of four municipalities within the district. 

The municipality aims to support financially disadvantaged students through its bursary program, ensuring access to higher education opportunities.

Eligibility Requirements for the KwaDukuza Municipality Bursary

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  1. Must reside within the KwaDukuza jurisdiction.
  2. Must have completed Matric with university entrance or endorsement.
  3. Must be studying or planning to study full-time towards a National Diploma or Degree in one of the eligible fields listed above.
  4. Must be registered or intend to register at an accredited public tertiary institution in South Africa.
  5. Must not be a recipient of any other bursary funding or NSFAS funding.
  6. Must not have completed another qualification, diploma, or degree.
  7. Must have a strong academic record.
  8. Must be in financial need.
  9. Must come from a previously disadvantaged background.

How to Apply for the KwaDukuza Municipality Bursary

  1. Download and complete the application form or collect it from the KwaDukuza Youth Centre, libraries, or municipal offices.
  2. Submit the following supporting documents (compulsory – missing documents will result in disqualification):
    • Certified copy of ID document.
    • Certified copy of Matric certificate and statement of results (for new students).
    • Certified copy of the latest progress report with academic marks (for returning students).
    • Motivational letter explaining why you should be awarded the bursary.
    • Proof of admission/acceptance from a tertiary institution (on official letterhead).
    • Course curriculum and study duration (on official letterhead).
    • Tuition fee statement from the institution (on official letterhead).
    • Proof of parents’ or guardians’ income (latest payslips if employed, affidavit/letter from the Department of Labour if unemployed).
    • List of parents’ or guardians’ monthly expenses.
    • Proof of residence in KwaDukuza.
