About the Bursary Provider

The Prince Albert Municipality aims to support academically performing students who are committed to community development but lack the financial means to pursue higher education.

This bursary program is designed to uplift students from historically disadvantaged backgrounds and those with disabilities.

Eligibility Requirements for the Prince Albert Municipality Bursary

To qualify for the Prince Albert Municipality Bursary, applicants must:

  • Be registered at a recognized tertiary institution for the academic year.
  • Reside within the Prince Albert Municipal Area.
  • Show academic excellence and a passion for community development.
  • Be from a historically disadvantaged group or have a permanent disability (supported by a medical certificate).

Conditions of the Bursary

  • The bursary will fund only registered academic subjects.
  • It is awarded for one (1) academic year.
  • Funds will be paid directly to the tertiary institution’s bank account.
  • Students reapplying for a second bursary must submit their previous year’s academic results.

How to Apply

Interested applicants who meet the criteria should complete the prescribed application form, available from the HR Department or on the municipal website.

Applicants must submit certified copies of the following documents:

  1. A comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  2. Proof of qualification or latest examination results
  3. Proof of registration at an accredited tertiary institution
  4. Bank account details of the accredited tertiary institution
  5. Certified copy of Identity Document (not older than 3 months)
  6. Proof of residential address (municipal account)
  7. Salary statements of both parents/guardians
  8. If applicable, a medical certificate confirming permanent disability

Completed applications must be submitted to:
